Unthology 4
Edited by Robin Jones and Ashley Stokes.
Really proud to be in this anthology of new fiction brought out by Unthank Books. The editors describe the book concisely as “a collection of extraordinary fiction.”
Or with slightly more words:
It showcases new and established writers, “drawing its energy from the wanderlust and shape-shifting tendencies of the contemporary short story.”
It’s been getting great reviews here and here http://www.litro.co.uk/2013/11/book-review-unthology-4-ed-ashley-stokes-and-robin-jones/
and another great review at Our Book Reviews Online where The Mole chose it as one sof his books of the year
This anthology really seems to have grown legs and earned lot of praise in the couple of months since it was launched.
These are the unthologists: Joshua Allen, Sarah Bower, Carys Bray, Ruby Cowling, Michael Crossan, Sarah Evans, Rodge Glass, Marc Owen Jones, Rowena Macdonald, Aiden O’Reilly, Adrian Slatcher, Barnaby Walsh, Melanie Whipman.
Edited by Robin Jones and Ashley Stokes.
Cover artist Slava Nesterov
The guys at Honest Publishing have chosen an artist for the cover. He’s a Russian artist called Slava Nesterov and some of his work can be seen here:

I really love his stuff. It’s so precise and unsettling.
The above is not the cover image. No final decision has been made yet.
Daniel Seery
Daniel Seery was in a group of a few writers I used to meet up with regularly to swap edits and opinions. He signed with Liberties Press recently, and they will bring out his novel A Model Partner next year.
I love Dan’s stories – I haven’t actually read any of the novel, I only got to see his short stories. But I could spot he has a distinctive style running through them. He creates – or constructs – little worlds. It’s like the stories are his garden shed and he’s spending hours there to get them working properly. And when they work we can move inside them. Hmmm. not sure if this is the right way to put it. Domestic situations will open out to hints of the uncanny, warped reality, eccentricities observed from the interior.
Here’s his website.
Now on Ether Books
Ether Reads is an iphone / ipad app that allows you to download from their library of short stories. The interface is beautiful – as you come to expect on the iphone. The pages flick over when you slide your finger on them.
The authors are a mix of the bestselling and not-so-famous. There are little tags on the stories to help guide your choice, and a few free ones to get you started. An app for ‘the other’ platform – the Android – is in the pipeline
Ether selected three of my stories for publication. They’re priced at about 70 cents each.
Cover Artist Alex Chilvers
Update: Alex Chilvers was unavailable for the cover of my book, but I’ll leave this note here.
Slava Nesterov is now the cover artist.
Honest Publishing have commissioned an artist for the cover of my story collection, (provisionally titled Greetings, Hero).
The artist is Alex Chilvers and he did the cover for a previous Honest book, Iceberg by Paul Kavanagh.
