Canadian writer D.H. Wilson has won the BBC National Short Story award. The award is only in its sixth year and has proved to be a big boost to the short story form. Julian Gough won it in 1997.
From an interview on Prism Magazine:
“I’d never have been able to launch myself with a short story collection in either the U.S. or the U.K.,” he said.
God damn right Dave. If I’d known that 7 years ago I would have moved on and not wasted my fucking time.
